FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR ARTISTS IN CUYAHOGA COUNTY
Through partnerships with The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and Cuyahoga Arts and Culture, and under the direction of Christina Vassallo, SPACES has developed an annual program that will distribute $85,000 to 15 artists in Cuyahoga County in 2019. Comprised of two separate regranting initiatives, The Satellite Fund and The Urgent Art Fund, the annual program will deliver grants and additional resources directly to artists, in order to support dream projects that speak to our current realities and equalize the distribution of arts funding in Cuyahoga County.
THE URGENT ART FUND
SPACES will offer project-based support through The Urgent Art Fund to Cuyahoga County artists. This support may go toward production expenses and artist commissions for the creation of "urgent art" that is socially, politically, or culturally responsive. By designating funds specifically for such projects taking place in the public realm, The Urgent Art Fund will help artists immediately engage their community in dialogue about the day's most pressing issues. SPACES will begin accepting proposals in January 2019. Five project-based grants, in the amount of $5,000 each, along with additional resources will be awarded throughout 2019. The Urgent Art Fund is supported by Cuyahoga Arts & Culture.
THE SATELLITE FUND
SPACES will support artistic research and development taking place in Cuyahoga County through The Satellite Fund. This opportunity is part of The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts Regional Regranting Program, which awards grants to vibrant, under-the-radar artistic activity by partnering with leading cultural institutions in 14 communities across the country. The Satellite Fund will offer ten $6,000 project-based grants to artists in Cuyahoga County; info sessions and the application deadline are scheduled for spring 2019.
