hingetown culture works
Hingetown Culture Works is a platform for the co-creation, coordination, and implementation of cultural activities that serve the diverse populations living in and visiting this area of Ohio City. HCW will strengthen community ties, creatively address local issues, and instill a sense of collective ownership in the neighborhood among representatives from multiple sectors: small businesses, residents, developers, city government, and nonprofit organizations. Spearheaded by SPACES, additional members include representatives from The Music Settlement, Cleveland Museum of Art, Transformer Station, Hingetown LLC, SPACES, LAND studio, Ohio City Inc., ICA - Art Conservation, Cleveland Tea Revival, and Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority.
Our inaugural public project was a collaboration with Open Streets Cleveland, on May 6, 2018, for which Hingetown Culture Works commissioned 7 artists to create new works and a Hingetown walking map that celebrate people-powered movement.
